Michael SpringerThe Springer lab (Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School), studies how cells compute decisions based on their environment. They are particularly interested in the constraints on signaling imposed by conflicting goals, multiple inputs, physical constraints and evolutionary history.  Most of their experiments use a number of related Saccharomyces yeast strains and species, utilizing a combination of high-throughput assays in combination with multiple stimuli or genetic alterations.

Her project, called “OWL (Open Wisdom Lab)”, is aiming at establishing an open network to promote the sharing and collaboration on innovative learning at global level. By using the open knowledge and technologies available online and the resources from collaborative institutions offline, learners from anywhere of the world can find complementary idea-mates, exchange their ideas and resources and build joint learning, research or innovation projects together.
