The job takes place at the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires de Paris, in the FDVA department (Frontières du Vivant et de l’Apprendre) of the University of Paris (Paris Descartes and Paris Diderot). Founded in 2005 by Ariel Lindner and François Taddei, the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires (CRI) is an academic centre whose mission is to reinvent ways of learning, teaching and doing research, putting students’ projects at the core of its activities. The CRI is an exceptional learning centre in Paris. Many meetings and events create an exceptional working environment.

The AIRE Master is a 2 year Master Program of the University of Paris and part of a Graduate School, EURIP (Ecole Universitaire de Recherches Interdisciplinaires de Paris). This demanding curriculum has a strong focus on interdisciplinarity and research-projects, targeting future researchers and entrepreneurs in life, learning and digital sciences. Its curriculum offers cutting-edge courses, a learning-by-doing training based on several internship in labs, start-ups or companies. The program is built on open-science approaches, interdisciplinarity, collaborative projects and a challenge-based pedagogy, supported by renowned researchers, teachers and mentors. For the 2019 academic year, the AIRE Master’s degree has opened a new specialty dedicated to Digital Sciences where AI, Machine Learning and critical approaches stemming from Data Science converge to foster scientific discovery and promote open knowledge.

Under the general direction of the directors of the programme, the coordinator is responsible for managing all educational activities at the programme and provide support to the students to enhance their academic and professional development. The coordinator serves as the liaison between the students, their place of internship, the teachers, the CRI ecosystem and the university.

Job responsibilities

Specific tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Directors in realizing the missions of the Master Programme
  • Manage, organize and coordinate all educational activities of the programme in collaboration with other programmes at the CRI
    • Work in a spirit of collaboration and interdisciplinary with the other coordinators of the Master
    • Create partnerships with new teachers, collaborate with them and provide guidance to develop new courses and/or modify existing courses
    • Promote innovative pedagogical approaches in the development of courses
    • Organize and implement evaluation of teaching and courses and decide together with the Directors what courses to implement
    • Organize together with other master tracks the common programme for the beginning of the academic year
    • Manage registration and validate attendance and participation of students in all courses
    • Organize and coordinate schedules and logistics of all courses and activities
    • Coordinate teachers meetings
  • Advise and follow the progress of students
    • Advise and mentor students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds academic and career matters to encourage professional development and enhance pursuit of academic goals
    • Follow students during through their training (discuss progress with teachers, and individual meetings with students, help students improve their skills where needed)
    • Visit and establish connections with labs, institutions, NGO, rms where students do their internships
  • Organize and implement student recruitment efforts
    • Assist in developing the student application and manage the online application platform
    • Advertise the application opening to target populations
    • Manage the application collection process
    • Participate on the pre-selection committee to choose top candidates for interview
    • Participate in the selection interviews and follow up on chosen candidates
  • Communication of Digital Sciences Master to the public and event management
    • Manage Digital Sciences Master website content and implementation
    • Communicate news and events on social media
    • Designing promotional materials for recruitment and study guide
    • Organise student seminars, learning expeditions in Paris area and abroad

Minimum qualifications

  • Master degree
  • Knowledge in Digital and Computer Sciences: AI, Machine Learning, VR, Robotic…
  • Experience in academic, scientific, or broader programming activities (e.g. event coordination and organization, higher education management, community outreach, community management, scientific communication, facilitation)
  • Fluency in English (both verbal and written)

  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, academic policies, ability to interpret and apply them, and ability to act when precedents do not exist
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on actions
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams and collaborating with individuals of diverse academic, professional, and cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and be proactive in adapting to new tools
  • Thorough working knowledge of computer and internet applications including Google Drive, Word processing, spreadsheets, databases, social media platforms, calendars, email, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, responsible, and dependable
  • Curious, creative, and adaptable to dynamic environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills; professional, diplomatic, and respectful attitude


Candidates should have the legal right to work in France


Starting at ~2000 €/month (net) regarding qualifications and expériences

Start date and duration

The position will begin in february. The contract duration is 12 months with possibility to renew each year (CDD public).
