The Learning Sciences Master – former EdTech – is an international interdisciplinary program dedicated to learning science and digital practices. It aims at training creative and talented students to become the future change-makers of education by providing them with a global and strategic understanding of the digital transformation in education and to help them to design relevant and impactful projects.
This program is a speciality of the AIRE Master (Interdisciplinary Approaches of Research and Education) which is divided into 3 complementary tracks: Life Science, Learning Science, Digital Science.
We are looking for talented students with a particular interest for exploration, experimentation and research. Our candidates must have the desire to work together on exciting collaborative projects and to contribute now to tomorrow’s education.
After 3 weeks of thematic bootcamp, you will have the opportunity to design projects through core courses such as game design, learning by doing, cognitive science, technologies for learning, etc. From February, you will start a 4/5 months internship with mandatory seminars. See more courses
The second year of the Master is designed to emphasize scientific reasoning, critical analysis and project development. You will have the chance to spend the majority of your time in internship: 9 months in total, which will give you the opportunity to taste different environments. On a regular basis, you will also have core courses such as critical analysis of research papers, statistics and data in education, etc. See more courses
The Learning Sciences program
The Learning Sciences Master Program (former EdTech Master) is a 2 years Master’s degree recognized by the French State and the European L.M.D system.
This Master is awarded by Paris Descartes and Paris Diderot universities and hosted at the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity(CRI): an experimental campus that aims to promote educational techniques and strategies to empower students to take initiatives and develop their own projects.
Responsibles for the program
Sophie Pène (Paris Descartes),
Pascal Hersen (Paris Diderot),
Franck Zenasni (Paris Descartes).
We prepare our students to be the future change-makers of education. What does it means? We believe that the learning transition is transforming the present jobs in education (teacher, pedagogical designer…) but also creates new jobs in this field. These new jobs are inside the education system (e.g. fab manager in the university) but also “outside” of the system, at its margins, in the third places (public libraries, co-working spaces, etc.), in the administration (e.g. chief digital officer) and in the companies (lifelong training is now a big challenge…). Above all, there are many professions that do not exist yet or that are currently in progress.
In one word: we prepare our students to be the ones who prepare and act for the world to come.
Our alumni are currently working as education designer, editorial manager, project manager, consultant, entrepreneur, teacher or PhD student!
Is this program for you ?
Each year we welcome about forty participants in the program: students are coming from all over the world and from very different backgrounds (education science, computer science, psychology, economy, design, medicine, humanities, biology, cognitive science, etc.). This diversity is an exceptional opportunity for students to discover the power of peer-to-peer teaching and learning. It also means that you don’t need any specific previous experience in IT or research to be eligible.
No matter what is your previous academic or professional journey, we are looking for talented participants who wish to engage in the transformation of education in the learning society.
You are an entrepreneur in the making, willing to challenge the digital transformation happening in education?
You are a natural-born teacher who enjoy testing and prototyping new ways to engage the students?
You are a lifelong learner, willing to make of this passion a professional exploration and an entrepreneurial plan?
You are a maker, convinced that “opening the box” is not just an expression, and that the challenges of today call for collaborative design of solutions and knowledge sharing?
You are a doctor, a biologist, a researcher, interested in alternative tools launched in the area of Arduino, 3D printers, laser cuts and other nomad technologies to participate in the building of inclusive and open resources for common good?
THEN, OUR PROGRAM IS MADE FOR YOU !
